About Myrica rubra:

Myrica rubra, also called yangmei.Chinese have been growing this attractive subtropical tree for about 2,000 years. The fruit 2cm diameter, with a round, knobby surface that varies form red to purple, with is pulp similar in colour with a sweet and tart flavour. It has a single seed about half the size of the fruit and is usually eaten fresh. Seeds, leaves and roots are also used for medicinal purposes and bark as a yellow dye. Fruit can also be canned, dried, juiced and made into wine. Also known as Yumberry has seen a dramatic increase in production over the last decade.

What is Myricetin?

Myricetin is a member of the flavonoid class of polyphenolic compounds, with antioxidant properties. Myricetin is structurally similar to fisetin, luteolin, and quercetin and is reported to have many of the same functions as these other members of the flavonol class of flavonoids.
